Koutetsu Sangokushi

I got suckered into watching this because of the cast. That was before I found out that they took characters from all my favourite anime and made them gay. Gawd. I’ve never felt so cheated in my life.
Because the story is loosely based on Romance of Three Kingdoms, all the characters have to be male. Even if they look and sound 100% female, THEY’RE NOT. And they couldn’t have left it at brotherly love, they had to inject all this homoerotic stuff into it. I don’t understand what kinda audience this is supposed to appeal to. I know guys are supposed to find girl on girl action a big turn on, but the same thing just doesn’t apply to girls. Why couldn’t they have thrown a couple of concubines in there? Or they could’ve just made the Sun Quan character a female (JUST LIKE SHE LOOKS AND SOUNDS), it’s not like they’re taking anything from the story aside from the character names. And then in episode 4 (I don’t consider this a spoiler because the plot is non-existent at this point anyway), they kill off one of the extremely few non-gay characters in the show. Urghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
And the Liu Bei character is this freaky little twerp with curly pink hair who seems to have a crush on Zhuge Liang (who likes gathering flowers). WTF!!! I don’t know much of the original Three Kingdoms, but I did hear a few of the stories when I was a kid, plus I played the Sango fighting game, and all this is just violating my sensibilities.
Maybe it’ll get better later, maaaaybe…

lol never even heard of this anime. glad I didn’t!
Ikkitousen is another sucky anime that uses Romance of the 3 Kingdoms characters. But 90% of their characters are females (REALLY females) and they always wear extremely short skirts. In fact the anime keeps on showing their underwear like, once every 10 seconds??
“I know guys are supposed to find girl on girl action a big turn on, but the same thing just doesn’t apply to girls.”
Well.. it does appeal to me even if I’m a girl and I know I’m not the only one.

Oh yes it does. It very definitely does.
That being said, I too found this show to be a piece of crap. All the pretty gay in the world couldn’t get me to finish it.
Ok I take it back, since I wrote that entry I’ve indeed come to realize that there’s a market for this sort of thing. (And before anyone goes there, not that I have anything against gay people IRL, it’s just not my type of anime)
Anyway as Ilyse says, this show is still a piece of crap.
ok, true story.
so once upon a time, i stumbled upon this anime. now i’m a BL fan & a Three Kingdoms fan but this was just…wtf-so i proceeded to avoid the series.
now like 1-2 years later i stumbled upon a manga with the same name and forgetting that i watched this anime, i read it. now there is only 1 chapter out but it is SIGNIFICANTLY LESS GAY (in a bad way)!! in fact, it may turn out good/decent/ok. the art is decent yet different from the anime, too. but you can still notice the connections between anime & manga. so what i’m trying to say is that the manga & anime seem to be related but one seems to focus more on the plot (three kingdoms) while the latter is just pumping out plotless shounen-ai.
so i’m not sure if there was (1) an improved manga verson of this (2) they made a bad anime for a good manga or (3) they are 2 different series with the same name.
